Welcome to the Lachlan Release!

Written by James Graham, PhD | May 12, 2025 2:15:34 PM

Spring has arrived, bringing with it the much-anticipated release of our latest features: Microsoft Entra and Basecamp. Reflecting on our Kansas release back in January, we described it as our most ambitious release ever, and the Lachlan release has certainly lived up to those expectations!

Introducing Basecamp

Basecamp is a brand-new hub that allows us to engage directly with our customers through the product. From Basecamp, customers can access any part of our platform, whether it's a dashboard, Wayfinder, or Intune Clarity, and easily return at any time. Basecamp also enables customers to manage their Rimo3 workspaces and users, and access the latest release notes, knowledge base articles, videos, and blogs. This is just the beginning, with more enhancements planned for phase 2.

Why Entra?

Enabling our customers to use their own Entra for authentication brings several significant benefits:

  1. Enhanced Security: By allowing customers to use their own Entra for authentication, we eliminate the need to store and encrypt passwords. This reduces the risk of identity-related security breaches and enhances overall security.
  2. Zero Trust Strategy: Entra supports a Zero Trust security strategy, which verifies identities, validates access conditions, checks permissions, encrypts connection channels, and monitors for compromise. This ensures that only authorized users can access sensitive information.
  3. Seamless User Experience: Customers can leverage their own user authentication flows, such as multifactor authentication prompts, providing a more familiar and streamlined user experience. Features like seamless sign-on reduce the need to input credentials repeatedly.
  4. Improved Efficiency: Entra's unified identity management increases efficiency and simplifies scaling. Automated governance reduces compliance burdens and audit stress, making it easier to manage user identities and access.
  5. Future Innovations: This capability unlocks future innovations for self-service product-led growth opportunities. Having these capabilities finally brings us up to modern standards for authentication and paves the way for further enhancements.

Patch Catalog Improvements

With this release, we've also made significant improvements to our Patch Catalog. Version 1.1 includes enhanced logic and performance, support for multiple languages, package types, and architectures, and a more transparent patch subscription process. Entra enables single-sign-on and seamless sign-in to Patch Catalog, making it easier for customers to access without additional authentication. Partners will appreciate the new experience, allowing them to send applications to multiple Rimo3 workspaces via the new workspace drop-down menu.

A Fresh New Look

Finally, with Basecamp and Patch Catalog v1.1, we're introducing the first phases of our new look UI. Inspired by Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, our modern design includes the Rimo3 top bar and a waffle menu for easy navigation to main destinations within Rimo3. We're committed to enhancing the user experience and will continue to expand UI improvements across the platform, focusing on improving workspace management.

Looking Ahead

We have exciting plans for the next release, and we can't wait to share more details with you. Stay tuned for more updates!
